Among Giants — Paleoart for MCN UFPR

Paleoart created for the giant ground sloth exhibition space at the Museu de Ciências Naturais at UFPR, in Curitiba, Brazil. Designed as an exhibition backdrop, the illustration depicts a landscape from South America’s past, bringing together prehistoric wildlife, atmospheric lighting, and environmental detail. The project follows the creative process from composition studies to the final painting, developed with guidance from the museum’s research and paleontology team.

Desenvolvida para compor o espaço expositivo da preguiça-gigante no Museu de Ciências Naturais da UFPR, esta ilustração convida o visitante a imaginar uma paisagem do passado da América do Sul, habitada por grandes mamíferos e outros animais.
Concebida como um painel de fundo para a exposição, a composição amplia o olhar para além da preguiça-gigante, apresentando a fauna e o ambiente ao seu redor. A luz, a vegetação e a distribuição dos animais pela paisagem ajudam a construir uma sensação de profundidade e imersão.
Todo o processo, desde o esboço até a arte final, tiveram a colaboração da equipe de pesquisa e paleontologia do MCN.
Em breve, o painel integrará a exposição do MCN, em Curitiba, Paraná, Brasil.
Among Giants

Created for the giant ground sloth exhibition space at the Museu de Ciências Naturais at UFPR, this illustration invites visitors to imagine a landscape from South America’s past, inhabited by large mammals and other animals.
Designed as a backdrop for the exhibition, the composition extends beyond the giant ground sloth to depict the surrounding wildlife and environment. The lighting, vegetation, and placement of animals throughout the landscape help create a sense of depth and immersion.
The entire process, from the initial sketches to the final artwork, benefited from the collaboration and guidance of the MCN’s research and paleontology team.
The panel will soon be on display at the MCN in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil.
